On Monday’s “The Last Word,” Dean told MS NOW’s Jonathan Capehart that she was muted after she questioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff about President Donald Trump’s deal during a phone call with lawmakers on Monday.
“We didn’t learn much of anything; I have to be very, very honest with you,” she said of the call.
Dean said after Rubio gave a “very brief” update about the Iran war, he opened the floor to the lawmakers.
“I did ask a set of questions to the secretary and to Mr. Witkoff, which really piqued his ire,” she recalled.
Dean told Capehart that’s when Witkoff went off on her.
“He called my question ‘smart-a—d’ and ‘stupid.’ Cut my mic off and said, ‘There’s your answer,’” she said.
The Pennsylvania Democrat said her list of “tough questions” included her concerns about the MOU, saying it sounds “in favor of Iran.” She also asked about the human toll of what she called Trump’s “reckless, unconstitutional war,” including the deaths of 13 service members and thousands of civilians in the region.

Dean said there was one particular question that sparked the special envoy’s anger. She told MS NOW she asked Witkoff, “How much of your work in the region is for the United States of America and resolving these issues, and how much of your time is being spent on your own ventures?”
