NDC Demands Immediate Sack of Gbajabiamila Over ‘Fake Agency’ Scandal

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to a controversial scandal surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The opposition party said Gbajabiamila should be suspended from office to allow for what it described as an independent and transparent investigation into the matter.

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party raised concerns over the growing controversy surrounding the alleged agency, which the Presidency has reportedly denied knowledge of.

According to the NDC, the scandal has raised serious concerns about accountability, transparency and governance under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The party alleged that the PFIPC, despite being described as a non-existent agency, was reportedly able to secure budgetary allocations in the 2026 budget and also open multiple financial accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

These accounts reportedly include a domiciliary account, a Pound Sterling account and a Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The NDC questioned how an agency allegedly unknown to the Presidency could gain access to such high-level financial structures without official approval or documentation.

The party said the development raises serious questions about possible lapses within key government institutions, including the Office of the Accountant-General and other federal agencies.

It also expressed concern over claims that the Office of the Head of Civil Service approved 314 staff positions for the agency.

According to the opposition party, such a major administrative decision could not have happened without approvals from senior government officials.

The NDC also referenced allegations made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the PFIPC.

According to the party, Adeyemi alleged that he secured his appointment through financial dealings involving senior government figures.

The NDC further cited claims that Gbajabiamila allegedly demanded 48 percent of the agency’s takeoff grant, estimated at over N27 billion.

The party described the allegations as deeply disturbing and said they point to what it called a dangerous pattern of corruption within government circles.

It also pointed to the mysterious death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary in the matter.

According to the NDC, Tanimola died in a fire incident at a hotel in Utako, Abuja, in October 2025, shortly after a petition relating to the matter was reportedly submitted to the police.

The party further noted allegations by Adeyemi that there have been multiple attempts on his life.

It referenced claims of an attack along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and warnings by Adeyemi that some powerful forces may be trying to silence him.

The NDC said these developments make it necessary for the federal government to act urgently.

It demanded the immediate removal of Gbajabiamila from office, insisting that his continued stay could compromise any investigation.

The party also called on President Tinubu to set up an independent investigative panel to probe all aspects of the controversy.

According to the NDC, the probe should cover the agency’s alleged budget allocations, account openings, staff approvals and all related financial transactions.

It also asked investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding Tanimola’s death and the reported attacks on Adeyemi.

The party said Adeyemi should be granted witness protection to ensure his safety throughout any investigation.

The NDC further called on anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and the Nigeria Police Force, to immediately launch a full investigation.

It warned against what it described as attempts to dismiss the matter through official statements without a proper investigation.

The party insisted that Nigerians deserve full disclosure and accountability.

It maintained that anyone found culpable, regardless of status or position, must face prosecution.

The NDC added that the allegations have become too serious to ignore and require urgent institutional response.
