Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has described fathers as heroes whose unconditional love, sacrifices, and commitment remain the foundation of families and society.
Governor Fubara stated this in a goodwill message marking the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, where he paid tribute to fathers for their role in strengthening families and communities across Rivers State and Nigeria.
In the statement signed by his Media Aide, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor acknowledged the daily struggles of fathers across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
He noted that many fathers continue to work tirelessly to provide for their families despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
According to him, Father’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise the quiet sacrifices and dedication of fathers around the world.
“A father’s love is quiet strength. It is the man who leaves home before dawn and returns after dusk so his children can eat and go to school. It is the man who denies himself so his family can have. It is the firm hand that corrects and the open arms that forgive,” Governor Fubara said.

He added that the sacrifices of fathers represent “the invisible thread that holds our homes together” and serve as the foundation upon which society is built.
Governor Fubara noted that fathers across the state have continued to demonstrate resilience by enduring hardships and making sacrifices to secure a better future for their children.
“I have seen fathers labour under the sun, paddle through floods and endure hardship, all so that the next generation will have a better chance than they did. That is heroism without medals,” he said.
He assured that his administration would continue to draw inspiration from the dedication and resilience of fathers in its efforts to build a Rivers State worthy of their sacrifices.
