The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kogi East Senatorial hopeful for the 2027 general election, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi, popularly known as “Elephant,” has called on eligible voters across Kogi East Senatorial District to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the July 10, 2026 deadline.
Abdullahi made the appeal through a voter awareness campaign themed “Have You Secured Your PVC?”, stressing that the PVC remains the most powerful tool through which citizens can determine the future of their communities and leaders.
According to him, every eligible voter must ensure they are properly registered and prepared to participate in future elections.
“Your vote is your right and your voice. Without a PVC, that voice cannot be heard at the ballot box. I urge all eligible residents of Kogi East, especially first-time voters, to register and secure their PVCs before the deadline,” he said.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that the registration exercise provides opportunities not only for new voters but also for those seeking transfer of registration and replacement of lost or damaged voter cards.
“This exercise is not only for those registering for the first time. Those who have relocated and need to transfer their registration, as well as those whose voter cards are lost or damaged, should take advantage of this opportunity,” Abdullahi stated.
He described active participation in the electoral process as a civic responsibility that strengthens democracy and promotes accountable leadership.
“Democracy thrives when citizens participate. Securing your PVC is the first step toward choosing leaders who will represent your interests and deliver meaningful development to our people,” he added.
Abdullahi further encouraged youths, women, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders across the nine local government areas of Kogi East to intensify awareness and mobilization efforts to ensure that every eligible voter is captured in the registration exercise before the deadline.
“The future of Kogi East belongs to all of us. Let us not sit on the sidelines. Every eligible citizen should ensure they are registered and ready to vote when the time comes. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Kogi East. I encourage our people to make their voices count by participating fully in the democratic process and securing their PVCs today,” he said.
The voter registration exercise is expected to end on July 10, 2026, after which only registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards will be eligible to participate in future elections.
