As conversations around global power, technology, and modern warfare continue to shape public discourse, a Nigerian journalist is drawing attention with a new book that explores one of the most controversial international events of 2026.
Journalist, strategic analyst and international consultant, Olabode Opeseitan, recently unveiled Absolute Resolve, examining the January 3, 2026, military operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by United States forces.
A Fellow of both the World Press Institute and the Reuters Foundation, Opeseitan uses the book to explore far more than the military operation itself. According to the author, the book investigates how intelligence gathering, cyber warfare, satellite surveillance, electronic warfare, and kinetic force converged during the 148-minute mission, creating what he describes as a new template for modern conflict.
Beyond military strategy, the book delves into questions of international law, political psychology, institutional power, and the future of global diplomacy. Opeseitan argues that the operation represented one of the most consequential displays of unilateral American power in recent history.
The publication arrives at a time when books examining geopolitics, leadership, and global security are increasingly finding audiences beyond traditional academic circles. From business leaders and diplomats to young professionals interested in international affairs, there is a growing appetite for works that explain complex world events in accessible ways.
Speaking on the broader significance of the project, Opeseitan noted that the book is less concerned with how Maduro fell and more interested in what the event revealed about the international system itself.
“Governing through extraction without reciprocation, demanding loyalty while offering betrayal; Maduro’s regime encoded its own collapse,” he said, adding that the book seeks to interrogate the global structures that enabled such an outcome.
Spanning 12 chapters, an epilogue, and a comprehensive conclusion, the work draws from military doctrine, intelligence analysis, moral philosophy, behavioural economics, and open-source reporting. According to the author, every major claim is extensively referenced, reflecting an effort to combine investigative depth with academic rigour.
