“A misfit to the judiciary” – Atiku’s aide blasts Justice Lifu over controversial ADC judgment

Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, over a recent judgment involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Ibe described Lifu as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy and accused him of handling cases targeted at opposition political parties.

“The morning after, it should be crystal clear to all Nigerians irrespective of party affiliations that Justice Peter Lifu is a threat to our Democracy,” Ibe wrote.

He alleged that the judge was presiding over multiple cases aimed at deregistering opposition parties.

“Apart from being saddled with the contrived cases against the ADC, he is also presiding over the cases of NDC and APM all aimed at deregistering the opposition parties,” he said.

Ibe argued that any government seeking to weaken opposition parties was creating conditions for political instability.

“Any government that abhors opposition parties is intentionally creating room for chaos and anarchy,” he said.

The former vice-president’s aide also referenced a recent court of appeal decision in his criticism of the judge.

“Like the Court of Appeal said yesterday, Justice Lifu is a misfit to the judiciary and is not qualified to sit at a beer parlour bench!” he added.

The comments come amid growing controversy over recent court decisions affecting opposition parties and political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election.
